We had an amazing time at Tonsai Elephant Sanctuary. We were looking for an ethical sanctuary which was also not too far from where we stayed in Kata. We did the half-day visit which was amazing. Would highly recommend... We got to prepare food and then feed the elephants. We then walked with them, gave them a mud bath, then shower. We also did a quick Thai cooking class thereafter. I was pleasantly surprised that food which was cooked so quickly, was so delicious. The whole experience was amazing. There is also a small gift shop where you can get clothes and souvenirs

What a beautiful experience!

What a lovely experience. Just my husband and I o  the feeding,trek and showering. Totally gorgeous elephants and staff. 10 out of 10. Thank you 😊 

Unreal experience

Visited in the morning, fed the elephants then walked them in their surroundings observed them.
Later scrub them with mud and bathed them. 
They clearly loved it and we’re very well cared for. This is a small family room sanctuary, not commercialised entirely recommended.

Family, ethical, caring, value for money

Awful experience! Two poor elephants just in what felt like a dusty car park almost! We feed them and after the “guides” were pulling at there ears to take pictures with the tourists and slightly punching them when one elephant started walking away. Left after 10 minutes fed them and literally left did not feel like a nice experience!

Would avoid!

Came to visit this sanctuary as it was recommended by a website for ethical elephant sanctuary’s in Phuket. After feeding the elephant and doing a walk with them on the walk one of the guides started punching a young elephant, this happened quite a few times when he thought people weren’t watching. After I spoke to the photographer he said no he wasn’t punching the elephant but I could see he was. Left quickly after mentioning this to the lady on reception she was very apologetic & tried to say that doesn’t happen often and the guide wasn’t a regular but unfortunately I don’t find that a trustworthy statement as they kept another elephant tied up on a short rope in the feeding area. Would not recommend this place as I believe that this treatment is probably more common

The staff is very accommodating and friendly! They take care of the elephants just like family members. 

Beautiful sights, excellent staff, professional, kind and efficient.

Excellent,loved every minute of it,staff were friendly,elephants were amazing 

My 10 year old grandson had the best time in the water with the young staff and the elephants. He laughed all the time 

Was a great day out and staff were very friendly and accommodating. The elephants roamed free and seemed very happy in forest environments. We fed them, walked with them freely, we let them have some time and had a break as they got a bit excited then once calm we went back out and did mud bathing and showering/washing the elephants in the lake. We finished with a Thai cooking class and had some additional tasty Thai food! Was amazing would definitely recommend
