What an experience this was. We learned about via our favourite Netflix show (Somebody Feed Phil), and it was a good as they showed it. You get to walk really close to the elephants under the watchful eyes of a skilled guide, who will tell you all about the habits of these incredible creatures. They are very careful, it’s clear that the wellbeing of the elephants is their main concern! No chains, no riding the animals, no touching, just education and preservation. The elephants are rescued from the logging industry, bad tourism and circuses and are brought to this sanctuary to heal and live safely amongst their own kind. It was a one of kind experience and the included lunch was the cherry on the cake. Thank you Johnny for a great morning.

100% cruelty free and animal friendly! A must do trip if you care about elephant wellfare.

Having previously visited Thailand in 2012, and regrettably visiting one of the much less ethical ‘sanctuary’, I was hesitant to visit another. But I was pleasantly surprised. Tourists are not permitted to touch, feed, ride the elephants….but instead stand amongst them and watch them be elephants. Was really quite beautiful. I didn’t witness any pacing or poor treatment, the elephants sort of seemed to be the boss 👏

One thing to note with young children. Our 7yo and 4yo struggled with the lunch offering as it was Vegan. I love the alignment of vegan with an animal sanctuary, but I would recommend taking other snacks as back up!

So many beautiful relaxed elephants

The elephants were amazing. We did the skywalk and it was a very good experience. We got to see many different families of elephants, feed them and get close to them. It’s clear that this place takes good care of the animals and doesn’t mistreat them.

Amazing ethical elephant experience

This elephant sanctuary is a perfect trip to do whilst in Chiang mai and a must-do. Pick up from the hotel was easy and the sanctuary itself was very well organised and clean. The buffet lunch was also great with plenty of options. Deng, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable and made the trip all the better. The experience is extremely ethical with no touching, feeding or riding which is really reinforced when learning the stories of the elephants. It is definitely worth the money and I would recommend to anyone.

Great experience

We had a great time on our tour - highly recommend the "Walking with Elephants" tour. We got to see lots of elephants up close, to feed some by hand, and to see them bathing and playing in the water. So cool to see how loving, social, and occasionally mischievous the elephants are. Truly one of the highlights of our travels in SE Asia!

Our tour guide Ann was great - she knew an incredible amount about each individual elephant, and her positivity and enthusiasm was contagious. She kept us feeling safe walking amongst the various herds, and helped educate us on the sanctuary's work, history, and mission. 

Our one note is to definitely bring along bug spray and sunscreen as it can get sunny and a little buggy up in the mountains.

My time spent at ENP was the highlight of my trip to Thailand.  It is so warming to see these beautiful elephants so comfortable and well cared for.  ENP is 100% ethical and has the elephants’ best interests at heart.  I especially loved witnessing their behaviors, how they interact with each other, the mischievousness of the little ones and their interactions with their environment.

It was the most magical experience. We got to walk with the elephants and observe them up close. It was incredible being so close to such gorgeous animals. Our tour guide was so kind and told us a lot about each elephant we encountered making the experience even more incredible. The food was also delicious! We hope to return very soon!
