Plus one of the most incredible experiences I had in Thailand!  Get up close with these incredible animals. Feed the elephants swim with them!

Experience of a lifetime

The most incredible experience and it was all thanks to MR DEAW. He is seen in one of the photos where we are all stood infront of the lodge. 

We did the overnight stay- my mum, dad and my partner. We have all said hands down that this was our favourite part of our holiday in Thailand. 

On the first day we got to visit 1 camp where we learnt about the elephants, had a safety talk about the elephants and how we need to be around them. We got to feed them, walk them through some of the 100 acres of land they had to roam free ( when I say walk, I mean we followed them where they wanted to go, they had no rope as leads). This is a purely ethical sanctuary. After the walk in the heat we got to cool them down in the water and put mud on them. Again they are free to do as they please so if they got up and got out then that would be it, there was no pressure on the elephants. 

We got to make tie dye cloths which was fun. The only downside to this was that for the amount of people we were as a group there wasn’t that much space to do it, so it was just a case of waiting your turn which we didn’t mind but we was just last in doing so. However the staff made sure we got a cloth each. 

We got fed some incredible Thai lunch and there was plenty for everyone. 

We got to make healthy snacks for the elephants and then feed them - we learnt so much about the elephants and their diet. 

All these elephants are cared for so well. They have caretakers with them 24/7 for protection in the jungle due to snakes and wild dogs.

After spending the day at this camp, Mr Deaw took us to our accommodation for the night. Luckily it was just us and another gentleman which meant we had the whole place to ourselves. The accommodation was beautiful outside in the jungle. The rooms were basic but spacious and comfy. There is no aircon but the rooms do have fans. We saw beautiful sunsets and sunrises here. Mr Deaw taught us how to cook Thai curry and my dad and partner got to cook it in the kitchen which was fun. 

After dinner we got massages in our rooms by a local massage lady from the village. This was so cheap and I think was 350 Thai baht each! Mr Deaw called her and she met us in our rooms. Just a nice added extra after a long day. 

The next morning we had breakfast all ready for us and Mr Deaw took us to a few more camps where I got to see a baby elephant which he knew I wanted to see. He then took us on a walk through the villages and hills to the waterfall to swim and cool down. 

After the swim he took us to a local village where we saw them make scarfs. It was really eye opening. 

We headed for lunch in the hills where they had incredible views of the jungle. 

Overall we saw 3 different camps, learnt so much about the elephants, about the company and the caretakers. I like that majority of the ticket price goes towards the elephants care such as vet bills and food. 
Mr Deaw told us how life was for them during Covid and the elephants, it was a hard story to hear but it really showed how much they really do for the elephants and how much they mean to them. 

We passed other elephant sanctuary’s on the way and you could tell them ones were not ethical by the way they were cared for and how they looked. The ones at EJS were healthy, they had good weight and were not controlled in anyway! I highly recommend EJS Chiang mai. 

We will 1000% return if we come back to Thailand. I really hope Mr Deaw gets to see this as he really made our trip so special and he is a credit to the company and the elephants.

I spent half a day at the elephant camp, and the environment here is beautiful, with fresh and clean air that makes you feel relaxed and happy. We made food for the elephants, bathed them, played with mud, and had close interactions, experiencing their gentleness and charm. My daughter also had a fantastic time, creating wonderful memories. I hope everyone takes action to care for and protect elephants so they can have a better living environment!

半日大象营体验

We took our almost 3yo on the half day tour and he loved it!

We chose the later tour (we got collected from our hotel at 11.30am and arrived back around 6pm) so that we could work around nap time. It took 1 hour 40 minutes each way. The minibus was spacious and comfortable and our son slept on both journeys.
The driver stopped at a service station on the journey up. There’s a 7/11 shop, pharmacy, cafe, bakery and clean toilets.

The tour itself is incredible. Even the kids can get right up close to the elephants (but you must hold them up in your arms so the elephants can see them). And the showers and toilets were also kid friendly 🙌

Wonderful day out, highly reccomend.

Lovely half day after nice hours Drive into mountains. 15 people.
4 Elephants all with own handler.
Fed bananas stroked them as they ate went short distance to river where one could bathe with them & wash them. Free meal & free download of photos of all.

The actual sanctuary was great. 1 hr was plenty for what we wanted to do.  Got to interact with the elephants,feed them etc.

Biggest complaint was their lack of clear instructions for the meeting point. We drove over an hour away in the wrong direction.  Once we got to the actual location, they told us that the location we went to was for the half day tour.  Our driver was great and understood, we tipped him accordingly.  Book direct and avoid the middleman.
