The best method to travel around Koh Samui is by renting a car or motorcycle. There is also public transportation such as local red pick-up truck and taxi. The red pick-up truck (Song Taew) is service around the island from 6:00-21:00 hrs. and it cost around 30-80 THB per way. During night time the travel fare will be double. Taxi service in Koh Samui is expensive as the price is depending on negotiation rather than using the meter.

Top 9 Attractions in Koh Samui

1. Chaweng Beach

Coming to the popular beach of Koh Samui that is crowded with tourists like 'Chaweng Beach'. Chaweng Beach is located on the coast of Koh Samui compared to look at the popular beaches side by side. To compare up to 6 points, please try North Chaweng Beach, South Chaweng Beach, Chaweng Noi Beach and Central Chaweng Beach. Many resorts along the way forever. Chaweng Beach allows us to take a walk together, come here to come here for a walk, take a nice photo on the beach, then Chaweng Beach is suitable for a shady vacation or the rest want to have a beachside meal ready for everyone and drink with an atmosphere that has an opportunity not to be missed

2. Hin Ta Hin Yai

Hin Ta and Hin Yai, also known as Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks, hold a significant place as landmarks on Koh Samui. The eye stone is a result of sea water erosion, while Hin Yai is formed through the weathering of coastal rocks. Resembling male and female genitalia, these unique rock formations have become an immensely popular photo spot on the island. It's almost a rite of passage for anyone visiting Samui to capture a picture at Hin Ta and Hin Yai rocks.

3. The Big Buddha

Don't miss the opportunity to visit 'Wat Phra Yai' and marvel at the majestic, largest Buddha image in the southern region. Situated on Koh Fan, a small island near Koh Samui, this temple holds a significant presence. In the past, Koh Fan was surrounded by the sea, requiring a boat ride to reach Koh Phan. However, the resourceful villagers constructed a wooden bridge to connect the two islands. Yet, the bridge faced constant erosion from the sea, necessitating frequent rebuilding every 2-3 years.

4. Samui Aquarium & Tiger Zoo

It's the only zoo on Koh Samui that showcase various species animals such as tiger, parrot and many aquatic creatures.

5. Lamai Beach

Lamai Beach, a 4-kilometer stretch of shoreline, stands as one of the top destinations for tourists visiting Koh Samui seeking leisurely strolls along the coast. This crescent-shaped beach, while not boasting the same fine, white sand as the Andaman beaches, offers a unique and inviting atmosphere. Here, you can engage in various water sports, including jet skiing, sailing, and the exhilarating banana boat ride. Compared to the bustling Chaweng Beach, Lamai Beach exudes a quieter ambiance, making it an excellent choice for a relaxing beach walk or sunbathing session.

Additionally, every Sunday, Lamai hosts a vibrant market where you can explore and indulge in delicious culinary treats. Immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere as you stroll through the market, sampling local delicacies and acquiring unique food finds.

6.Mut Sum Island

Experience the latest sensation that's impossible to resist! Koh Mudsum, also known as Koh Mu, has emerged as a sought-after tourist destination in recent times. Nestled in the southern part of Koh Samui, a short 15-25 minute ride on a traditional long-tailed boat from the local villagers will transport you to Koh Mudsum.

Once a quiet island primarily inhabited by fishermen, Koh Madsum has witnessed a surge in popularity thanks to the introduction of pig farming by the villagers. The thriving pig population has bestowed a distinctive charm upon this island, making it an enchanting and unique getaway. Take leisurely walks along the pristine beach, savor delectable treats at the beachfront bar, and bask in the relaxed ambiance. And don't forget to capture a memorable photo with pigs. It's an experience you simply can't afford to miss!

7. ATV Adventure

Transform your seaside travel experience and embark on an exhilarating adventure by riding an ATV along the scenic nature trails of Koh Samui. Feel the rush as you speed through lush forests and traverse sparkling streams. Discover the captivating beauty of Koh Samui from a fresh perspective, distinct from the typical ocean views.

8. Bo Phut Walking Street

For those seeking an enchanting nighttime adventure on Koh Samui, I highly recommend exploring Bophut Walking Street. Nestled within the historic fisherman community, this vibrant street has evolved into the captivating Fisherman's Village, attracting numerous tourists who desire a leisurely stroll and relaxed atmosphere.

While the ambiance may not match the liveliness of Samui's renowned Chaweng Beach, Bophut Walking Street offers its own unique charm. Rather than bustling bars, the focus here is on delightful seafood restaurants where you can unwind and savor delectable dishes. If you're interested in browsing for souvenirs or indulging in fresh culinary delights, this walking street is the place to be. Immerse yourself in the local culture, enjoy a leisurely walk, and relish the flavors of the island along Bophut Walking Street.

9. Day Trip to Angthong National Marine Park

When visiting the Gulf of Thailand, a trip isn't complete without experiencing the thrill of snorkeling, especially in the stunning waters of Ang Thong Marine National Park. As one of the ASEAN Heritage Parks, it holds a special distinction, being one of only two parks in Thailand bestowed with this honor (the other being Hat Chao Mai National Park in Trang Province).

Ang Thong Islands encompass a collection of picturesque isles, with the park office located at 'Koh Wua Ta Lap.' Here, you can embark on a rewarding hike to the breathtaking Pha Chan Charat viewpoint. Just a 500-meter walk uphill reveals a mesmerizing panorama, offering a glimpse of over 42 islands. This hidden gem stands as one of Thailand's most awe-inspiring and lesser-known viewpoints.

Another natural wonder to behold is 'Talay Nai' at Koh Mae Koh. This saltwater lake is formed by the collapse of limestone mountains and provides a kayaking paradise where you can admire the enchanting beauty of cascading cliffs.

However, the real highlight lies beneath the surface—snorkeling unveils a captivating world teeming with vibrant fish and mesmerizing coral formations. Prepare to be enchanted by the marine wonders awaiting you underwater. With an abundance of cool check-in points to explore, your journey through Ang Thong Marine National Park promises unforgettable adventures at every turn.
